Sarah Palin’s Christmas Card

I couldn’t find  an image of a Pit Bull with lipstick.  So instead I am presenting my idea of what Sarah Palin’s Christmas card might be.  Although the dog really is not aggressive enough for her ilk.

Watching her last night was as terrifying as it was ugly.

Words I’ve heard to describe Sarah Palin’s speech: snarky, hideous, grand slam, torpedo, from hell, Tracy Flick, Eve, “Stay classy, San Diego”, heat seeking missile, snide, mocking, derisive, condescending, and cutthroat.

Interesting article in the Huffington Post about two focus groups,  unmarried and married women Hillary Clinton supporters, responding to Sarah Palin’s speech.  Both groups said she executed it very well, but were not impressed with her vitriol.

“In both groups, narrow majorities said they held a more negative view of Palin after her speech.”

Informative links about who Sarah Palin really is:

Mudflats – blogger from Alaska explains everything and anything you wanted to know about AK politics.
Jnail blog – citizen journalist investigating all of Sarah Palin’s scandals, especially Waterbreak Gate.
1080 KUDO – Alaskan progressive (yes there is such a creature) talk readio.  Hear what people who know her really think.  Warning: very addictive.

Christmas card image sent to me by Rebecca Collins (with out the political commentary).

P.S. If you find a Pit Bull with lipsitck image please send it to me.

P.P.S.  I would love to have my own focus group here.  Let me know what you thought of Sarah Palin’s speech in the comments section.

8:38 am update:  My friend Tom says that this card is too cute to come from Sarah Palin.  Here are some more images to consider via flickr.

I think she did a great job for her party and I can not stand the woman. I think she is trouble and will send us back 100 years when it comes to women’s issues. She is trouble for the environment. I also do not buy the family values crap they are promoting as I do not think she places her kids first in life at all.
Yea, I am rather opinionated and a rabid Democrat, but you asked.

I totally agree with you Rebecca. It makes me furious when the campaign blames the press for “going after” her poor daughter. She is the one who put her poor daughter in this position for her own political ambition.
And I am sorry, but it’s not sexist to question how a mother of family in crisis (special needs baby, pregnant teen, and stress of a son at war) is going to handle a high powered job she is supremely unqualified for. It’s obscene.

Are you saying that pitbulls are evil???

As the mother of a thirteen year old special needs daughter I was offended at her nod to “special needs parents.” I mean WTF? Her son is FOUR MONTHS OLD. She has absolutely no fucking idea what is in store for her and for her son. I can’t believe she even had the nerve to speak about it. It makes me so mad that I can’t even well, WRITE.

As you probably know, there is a question of whether the kid is her son or she was covering for her daughter who actually had the kid. Not that one needs to look there to know that she is a liar.
She’s the perfect follow up for Bush! Completely unqualified, expert liar, pretty good at reading the teleprompter, turns surpluses into deficits, in the pocket of Big Oil. THIS is the best the Republicans could come up with? well….yeah.
I also object to calling her a Pitbull- in fact, lets just let her stand alone and not denigrate any animals with a comparison.
Wasnt McSame’s speech just electrifying? snooze…
excuse me? how is more of the same, change? sheesh, he cant even think of his own tag line.

I am catagoricly not calling Pitbulls evil. I was simply responding to her joke about:
“What’s the difference between a hockey mom and a Pitbull —- Lipstick.”
In fact, just as I apologized to all dogs, especially Papillons and Labs, for comparing them to creepy liar John Edwards, perhaps Sarah Palin owes an apology to Pitbulls for implying a violent temperment and perpetuating negative stereotypes.
I will investigate more on this.
Elizabeth, I thought of you immediately when I heard about Palin’s Down’s syndrome baby. As I read your blog these days, I begin to get a glimmer for the first time what it really means to raise a child with developmental needs.
As much as a typical child might take all of one’s focus, a special needs child takes more. More than even the most devoted mom even has to give. It almost takes becoming a part of the child. Every minute, every decision is up to you. Medications, listening to or ignoring experts, experimenting, pushing, letting go, advocating, worry, worry, worry and utter and complete attention. To say nothing of making sure your other children are doing ok.
This is not about a working woman being able to have a job too. This is about the fact that a child was born to them that will need a tremendous amount of extra energy care and devotion. The fact is, when you decide to have 5 children, that is your job. Those children and all their various needs, are your responsibility. If you also have to have a job to put food on the table and give them a stable life, so be it, but then you chose a job that allows you to care for your children.
Yes, nannies and Dads are great. But you are the mother, and when you make that decision or “choice” as the right-wing likes to call it, then the choice you make is one of great sacrifice to your own ambitions.
    IMO.
Readers, stop by Elizabeth’s terrific blog to read some of her reflections (beautifully written, I might add) on the day to day challenges and joys of caring for special needs daughter.

Even if she were the “man of the house” I would question her judgment. Her raw ambition in spite of what it is doing to her family…by putting the kids in the spotlight and making them poster children for a political agenda is sick. In fact, if she were a man I would think even less of the decision to accept this nomination at 44 with the year her kids are having. She’s got plenty of time to make the national scene.

is everyone forgetting that people were questioning Edwards’ choice to campaign with his wife dealing with cancer? I don’t believe questioning her judgment in light of her family situation is a problem at all. It really angers me that people asking these questions are anti-woman, especially since she’s supposed to be pro family.
I hated the speech. I also found it disturbing that they paraded and passed that baby around like a prop at that hour of the evening.
I like how that picture of the Pitt bull has 2 lipstick references, if no one noticed. Hehe.

    Sheila — good point. It’s almost…dare I say it…reverse sexism. I guess that’s called tokenism too.
Regan – I noticed the “other lipstick” after I put up the photo and hoped no one would notice. Leave it to you. I’ve since taken it down. I don’t need to be obscene as I charge others with obscenity…like passing that baby around so late at night. And flying in the boyfriend when the children’s private life is supposed to be off limits.
(In case you don’t know – a dog’s erect and stuck penis is called lipstick — gross — I know. Apologies if I offended anyone’s sensibilies.)

Oh, sorry. Sometimes I lose my ability to not say things. Family knows this about me. I thought it was quite funny.
Like the shirts be the way. I might need to get one.

I love the picture of the little dog with the gun!
I know I am getting to be a nag, but I must say it anyway. Pit Bulls do not need any negative press comparing them to nasty things. The far majarity of these dogs are happy and sweet like the smiling example above. True, they are not the dog for every one; however, they are not the evil creatures they are often portrayed to be.

Oops, sorry. I just read the other comments. I had not heard the Pit Bull lipstick joke. (No surprise there for me). Now I get it.
I certainly hope the Pit Bull folks took her to task for her little joke. Unless, of course, she meant that both hocky moms and Pits are high high energy persistent tireless creatures. If she meant it as both being “mean”, then that is an insult to the dogs and other hockey parents too.
I am not a fan of Palin at all; however, when one decides whether or not she will be able to handle her special needs child along with her job, one must remember that this is not a poor or even middle class woman. This is a woman who does not do laundry, clean the bathroom or change or wash diapers. She doesn’t have to juggle the house hold. Her child will have every benefit money can buy. Plus, she has a big support group of care givers including the child’s father, siblings and grandparents. I am sure this special needs child will do just fine.

  13. Moira Avatar

Monica – I am glad you saw that I am not denigrating Pit Bulls.
As far as her baby, my point is that she has no idea what’s in store, what kind of special needs this child will have, the attention and care he will need. I think her timing is poor (among other things).

  14. Monica (Plans for Pups, LLC) Avatar

Moira, of course you would never intentionally denigrate a dog! I foolishly thought you did so unintentionally.
I used to compare NYC attorneys to Pitt Bulls all the time, until I learned about their sad plight where they are sometimes made vicious by awful people. Now I know their nature isn’t to be mean, but happy, smiling and so, so, so energetic. Way too energetic for me, but a perfect dog for so many others.

  15. Moira Avatar

Monica – you are not alone in your concern about another bad rap against Pit Bulls many owners were/are very upset about it.
I’m am following the story and will keep you posted. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂

I love the one about Pit Bulls don’t kill polar bears! I had ideas about doing a portrait of Palin, using the photo of her you have on your site, images of mountains in Alaska with streams running red, and slaughtered animals in the foreground. The trouble is I’m not all that great at Photoshop; have problems getting images to the correct resolution when I download them, so pretty much have to scan or download from camera, and (thank God) I don’t run into slaughtered moose, caribou etc. Has anyone seen portraits like the one I described, because it’s probably not a very original idea?
