  • Valentine’s Day Gift for Pit Bull Lovers

    January's over, but it's not too late to order a 2011 calendar for the Pit Bull lover in your life.   I think this one would be a great Valentine's Day gift for that special person who is not into hearts and flowers, but loves elegant design and this one-of-a-kind breed.

    This work of art was designed by Jessi McNamara, advertising creative exec by day and Pit Bull advocate by night, with a grant awarded her by Sappi Paper.   Jessi collaborated with photographer Jesse Dhein to create a calendar that gives back; all proceeds go to San Diego's Even Chance Pit Bull Advocacy + Resources + Rescue.   The calendar features photographs of  Even Chance’s rescued Pit Bulls, along with their stories and Pit Bull facts and quotes.  Beautiful.

  • Crystal Bowersox’s Farmer’s Daughter: A Dog, A Rant, and A Typo

    American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox's new CD comes out December 14, 2010. I think cover looks cool even though the pit bull is not her dog.  But I wonder if Crystal's recent Twitter rant about her record label has anything to do with the missing apostrophe in "Farmers Daughter" (above).   She wrote,  "Just frustrated with the politics of the industry. not just jive just disappointing how the industry has changed. every1s hands are tied."

  • The Unexpected Pit Bull Calendar 2010

  • Sarah Palin’s Christmas Card

    I couldn’t find  an image of a Pit Bull with lipstick.  So instead I am presenting my idea of what Sarah Palin’s Christmas card might be.  Although the dog really is not aggressive enough for her ilk.

    Watching her last night was as terrifying as it was ugly.

    Words I’ve heard to describe Sarah Palin’s speech: snarky, hideous, grand slam, torpedo, from hell, Tracy Flick, Eve, “Stay classy, San Diego”, heat seeking missile, snide, mocking, derisive, condescending, and cutthroat.

    Interesting article in the Huffington Post about two focus groups,  unmarried and married women Hillary Clinton supporters, responding to Sarah Palin’s speech.  Both groups said she executed it very well, but were not impressed with her vitriol. 

    “In both groups, narrow majorities said they held a more negative view of Palin after her speech.”
