Celebrate Dog Art Today’s 2nd Anniversary: Win a Valentino Pug Poster!

Win this poster!

In honor of my blog turning two today, I have a gift for one lucky reader, a Valentino Pug poster.  This amazing prize was generously donated by the producers of Valentino: The Last Emperor, a documentary directed by Matt Tyrnauer that follows the Italian designer for the final two years of his celebrated career.  The film is also billed as a love story about Valentino and his business partner of 50 years, Giancarlo Giammetti.  And, from what I can tell, it is also a story about two men and their love for their five Pugs who jet around the world with them as one big glamorous happy family.

This poster is now a rare collector's item as they were initially distributed for publicity purposes only, and now have been discontinued.  I think it is a magnificent combination of art, beauty, fashion, history, and dog love.

If you would like to win it simply tell my why you love Pugs, or why you love Valentino, or why you love both in the comments section below.  On Thursday March, 19, 2009 the contest will end at noon and I will select a winner.  You can enter more than once if you have more than one thought on the subject.

P.S. I was curious about the Pugs' names and left a note on the Valentino Film's Facebook page.  A few months later Giancarlo Giammetti kindly responded: Maude,  Milton,  Molly,  Margot, and  Monty.

So sweet!

P.P.S.  Sorry to all my international readers, but this contest is limited to U.S. citizens only.

My pug ‘friend’ Maggie, is undoubtedly the most maddening, sweet, petulant, loveable dog I’ve ever known. She either greets strangers with enthusiasm or indifference. I’ve never seen a dog with so much personality. I’ve grown up with pugs, and this one always brings a smile to my face. Well, except for when she’s trying to dig her way under my blankets at 3 in the morning. Then, she’s just a bitch.

I love pugs because they are like little kids with curly tails

I love pugs since someone gave us one to foster many years ago. She was an ugly, badly bred pug full of snorts, whistles and toots and the first dog to ever want to sleep under the covers. Her name was Pugsly. She was given up by her owner who was battling alcoholism.
One day we took her shopping and she started to go quite berserk, literally screaming and pulling. She had seen her old owner in the parking lot.
I realized then, how much dogs can remember, and for such happy, placid dogs, how traumatic and sad the separation must be.
She was placed into another home and I lost track of her, but now that I volunteer for a high kill animal control, I’m always on the lookout for them – they get first priority.
As for Valentino – lost is the grace and elegance that were his signature in haute couture. I think every woman would want a Valentino in her closet, including me, at 65!
The fashion world will have to look long and hard for another to even approach his standards.

I love Valentino because I think he designed beautiful, feminine clothes and handbags. He is the essence of elegance and style! I love a turquoise tote bag that is online right now at Nordstrom and if I had the $2000 it costs I’d buy it in a heartbeat!

I love Valentino, because he has real love for what he does, and has respect for people. He is a sincere, kind man, and from the things I have read about him he does not take advantage of people. And from loving my dogs I can understand why he has so many.

Congrats Moira on your two year blog anniversary!! Yay!
Ok…. I don’t own a pug but I love them anyway! They have flat little faces like my Boston, Otis! Otis even has a pug friend named Pug!!
Who wouldn’t love Valentino? Such beautiful clothes he designs! I wish my wardrobe was filled with his clothing! It’s good to dream!

I love pugs because they are just so cute and cuddly~how can one not love’em?! Those large buggy eyes and flat noses are so expressive and sweet. They have always reminded me a bit of E.T., especially when they smile. A friend of mine even named her pug Roswell! 🙂 But mainly I love pugs because they are dogs, and each day my dog, a BT, and other dogs inspire me. They remind me of what is most important in life. Life is not forever & dogs know how to live theirs to the fullest. They are such a joy and are such precious gifts to the world. Happy, full of spirit & life, dogs are non-judgmental & spread love & laughter, to all they meet.

I love Pugs because of their smushy faces, curly tales, and they’re just so darn cute! Plus, they’re kind of similar to Boston Terrier, and I’ve got one of those. 🙂 And Valentino… he’s VALENTINO! 🙂 I love your site!

The fact the Valentino loves his pugs more than anything elso tell us what king of person he is! He is a loving and caring person with a big and king heart! I to am owned and adored by 6 PUGS (and one that passed away in October, 2008) and 4 of them were fosters for the DFW Pug Rescue (Texas) and once they came in my door they didn’t leave as they were already at their forever home!! I know exactly how Mr Valentino feels!!

Happy Anniversary! I love Pugs because they are the perfect children and mine love to strut around in the fashions I create for them…ahhh, Valentino….maybe a new line?

  23. Angie Kindig Avatar

I missed the deadline, but I still love pugs. I have one and there is a saying, “You haven’t lived until you lived with a Pug”, and I agree! The Pug is the best breed…loyal and so loving! I sent out Puggy Christmas Cards this year with our Pug’s photo and the words, “Bah, Hum Pug!” Our Pug’s name is Tank & he’s a snuggle puggy! Life would be so boring without our Pug!
