Timur Tsaku: Angel Dogs

Timur Tsaku was born and educated in Uzbekistan and now lives in Israel, and he is my new favorite dog artist.  I am completely captivated by his intricate black and white paintings flecked with gold and imbued with the Byzantine quality of his non-western influences.

Most of all, I love the spellbinding dog so prominent in many of his works.  This creature is the Haiya Kdusha, the Hebrew name for a holy being or angel.

I think every artist I've ever featured on Dog Art Today has tried to capture the spiritual quality of the angel dogs in our lives.   And now, thanks to Tsaku and his breathtaking work, we understand that there is a name for this holy being, Haiya Kdusha, and he has a history as ancient and profoundly important as the Old Testament.   Truly Awe-some!
