Madame Georges Charpentier With Her Children and Dog by August Renoir, 1878
Love this.
Love this.
I love this! Also love that that kid is straight up sitting on that dog. Landseer newfoundland, maybe? Did those exist in France at this time?
OMG – great minds. I just posted it to Facebook and said the exact same thing. The girls is just sitting *on* the dog who is totally chill. Could be Neufie. Also, the child next to the mother is a boy. Victorians were cool.
