Treat Me Like a Dog…Please!

Waiting for the Vet by Norman Rockwell

As the health care bill makes its final push through our dysfunctional legislative body, a look at system to aspire to — the health care our dogs have…

When we lived in Los Angeles, Darby was a client of Dr. Werber and I can confirm that he does make out with his patients and he personally responds to his pager in the middle of the night.  Also, Darby had his kidney removed at the other vet clinic featured in the video, The VCA Animal Hospital.  Everyone there, the receptionists, the doctors, the nurses, the post-op team, and billing department was phenomenal.  Truly, it was one of the best medical experiences I have ever had in terms of access, communication, empathy, and follow-up.

And finally, why does my prescription for .05% Cyclosporine opthamolic solution cost $269.99 and Darby's .2% Cylcosporine opthamolic solution cost $29.99?!

Very interesting video, Moira. And I also wonder why treatment and meds for humans and pets are priced differently. (Wish both could be on the lower side, of course)

thanks Moira for this post- the medical industrial complex and the insurance industry, are rackets designed to make kagillions of dollars for the industries. They are not designed to primarily benefit the consumer.
Thank you for making this an important issue with this post and for cleverly doing it via a comparison to health care for animals.
