Being An Artist

Moira_3_portrait_crop

Moira McLaughlin Self-Portrait, 1975.  Grade 3, age 9.

This week I am making art.   So each day I am going to post images that inspire me.   Like all art it will be an experiment. Dogs may or may not appear. Hope you don't mind.

I recently rediscovered this self-portrait from a book I made in the 3rd grade entitled All About Me. It makes me smile.

I loved the way you put the sign on your closed door.

ok, since that last post was so darn easy ( you did away with another step in the comment process) I will post another right now. The way you represented the model drawing with half of it missing is very sophisticated somehow. Also the long brush and distance from the artwork must say something…not sure what though. Probably an accurate picture of how painters were shown in movies back then.

That picture is so delightful! I love how you put your name backwards on the door – how clever.

This is super cool! What a treasure. It is inspring me to make sure I keep safe special pieces of my childrens’art-I’m often tempted to declutter and get rid of it! Don’t get me wrong I display lots of it as it comes home-my house looks like a school hallway!
