  • TarFest this Weekend in LA

    Tarfest_logo

My friend James Panozzo reports there are no dog artworks in this year's TarFest, the art, music and family fun festival on the Miracle Mile he started 5 years ago. But I plan to check it out anyway.

James has excellent taste, and it's always inspiring to take the pulse of LA's emerging artists, musicians and filmmakers.  This weekend is packed with something for everyone. Even a Sunday morning fun run.  (Darby and I will be watching football.)

Read my post about last year's Tarfest  and James and my pig roast adventure, from which I am still trying to recover.

Visit TarFest's website for the full schedule that kicks off tonight with a juried art show.

P.S. TarFest is named for the La Brea Tar Pits, not LA's traffic.

P.P.S. check out this cool TafFest promo James just sent over by film fest curator Hunter Woo:

  • Dog Rule Fat Book Sneak Peek

Over the summer, thirteen dog artists, including myself, worked on this collaborative project called Dogs Rule.  On November 15th we are going to auction a copy of this handmade dog art book to benefit A Place to Bark Animal Rescue.  I will have more on this closer to the date, but I just had to share this terrific video that fellow artist Rebecca Collins put together featuring an interview with the project’s mastermind, Jill Beninato.

In Hollywood we would call it a teaser trailer. Enjoy!

    More details coming soon…

  • Micheal Phelps Can’t Wait to See His Dog

Michael Phelps the greatest Olympian of all time told Bob Costas he is looking forward to "getting back, seeing my dog, seeing my cars and setting up my new house." Wow, he's accomplished the most amazing achievement of the modern games and he still has his priorities just right. Awesome!

  • John Edwards is Not a Dog. I Owe an Apology to Dogs.

    Petcasso_papillion_cu

Remember back in January when I compared all the presidential nominees to dogs.   I said that Edwards had a "Breed Identity Problem"  because he was a Black Lab stuck in a Papillon's body.

Well, today I apologize to both breeds and to the dog species as a whole.  Dogs are loving, loyal, and utterly honest.  They don't know how to by hypocritical.

I can't say that for Senator Edwards who shows off his slick talents in this video made by his mistress, Rielle Hunter.   Watch him pour on the charm and listen to her giggle as they travel on his private jet and he puts the finishing touches on a speech calling for a "moral, honest, and just America."

BTW this video is one of a series of 4 webisodes that cost his One America Committee $114,461 but were suspiciously scrubbed from his website last year.  Read about the mysterious reappearing tapes here.
