  • The Invisible Dog Walk

    Invisible_dog_walk_1

Last Sunday Improv Everywhere teamed up with with The Invisible Dog art space (housed in the former invisible dog leash factory) to coordinate 2,000 invisible dog walkers blanketing Brooklyn for fun and mayhem.  Here are some great photos from Agent Chad Nicholson.  See more on flickr.

  • G-20 Black Dog

My sister Regan lives in Pittsburgh where the G-20 just wrapped up on Friday.  She sent me this photo by Erika June Christina Laing from her flickr site of one of the security dogs.  What a shot.  She also reported that several of the protests turned into sports rallies, with chants breaking out of “Go Pens!” and “Here we go Steelers, here we go!”  That’s Pittsburgh for your.  It’s all about the sports.

  • John Singer Sargent’s Studio

Photograph of John Singer Sargent in his Paris studio circa 1885.  Photographer unknown via the Smithsonian Institution photostream on flickr.  Note the large dog portrait in the upper left hand corner.

I wonder if this is where he seduced Louise Burckhardt (or she seduced him)…

…and also painted Louise's dog, Pointy.  IMO, one of the greatest dog art works of all time…

  • Welcome Fall 2008

Fall officially begins today at 11:44 am EST.  So today, I am featuring some autumnal dog art to usher in a season I spend the summer dreading, then enthusiastically embrace when it arrives.  Stew, fireplaces, football, yes, as a kid, I even liked going back to school, fresh notebooks and finding out whom I would sit next too.  Spring is thought to be the season of rebirth, but in many ways it's Fall.  Every team is perfect, and every student has an A.  Feels nice.

And I just discovered  the Baltimore Sun’s John Woestendiek’s Mutts blog where he, too, compares all the candidates to dogs.

Now, it’s finally time to add the last piece of the puzzle to my own dog/candidate comparison and decide what Sarah Palin is…

  • Yoshitomo Nara Limited Edition Pup King at Baltic

    Yoshitomo_nara_pup_king_7

The Yoshitomo Nara + graph A-Z Project at Baltic in the northern England town of Gateshead sounds like an intriguing experience.  The renowned Japanese pop artist worked with the Osaka-based design company to create 26 houses, one for each street named for the alphabet, aiming to explore “the relationship between the individual, the space they inhabit and objects within their surroundings.”

While his iconic little girl drawings appear dominant, Pup King, his equally well-known dog, makes appearances too.

Can you find the single Pup King in this pile of plushies?    Click on image for larger view.

  • Dog on Chair: Part 3

    Camilla_engman_dog

Pop dog art friend, Rebecca Collins, suggested I check out Flickr for some more in my Dog on Chair series.  Look who I found, one of my all time favorite dogs, Morran, artist Camilla Engman's iconic dog sitting on iconic Swedish modern Sjuan chair.

See more Flickr dogs on chairs here.  There are some awesome shots.  I could do a whole Dog on Chair blog!
