The following wine label entries received the most votes. Now, Mutt Lynch winemaker Brenda Lynch, wine label designer Rae Huestis, and myself, Moira McLaughlin founder of Dog Art Today, will select the winner. Announcement will be made Thursday May 27, 2010.
Thank you to every single artist who participated. It was a joy to curate this year's contest.

wonderful selection!

very pretty but none of them cute or witty. Where are all the ones that actually put thought into it?
Barkus god of wine, the one where the dog was leashing the wine, the devil dog with the halo? all this turned out to be was an pretty picture art contest. -
I’m so proud to be the owner of Chickenbone Jones, who six months ago suffered a serious back injury and had to have emergency spinal surgery. He was paralyzed for five weeks after the surgery, but has since fought his way to almost a complete recovery. I bought this painting as a surprise Father’s Day gift for my husband, who did the bulk of nursing Chickens back to health while I was taking care of our newborn baby girl. We are so proud of our little guy!
Thanks for hosting such an incredibly cool contest! -
I like them all, but my favorites are #5 and #9. Why the snarky comment, Keith Allen?

Beautiful work everyone…congrats!!

Pretty, but what about some designs that are about dogs AND wine? Honestly seems a bit lacking to me. Anyone can draw a pretty picture of a dog. It is harder to incorporate design elements that have more to do with the product, and there are none represented here. Kinda boring.

I totally agree Ed!

Were people allowed to vote as many times as they wanted?…I know you didn’t ask for any id so I’m just wondering. I’m not saying that one of these won’t be perfect for the wine label.
-
But if you look at their other wine labels you would see that they don’t have the wine theme.

I’m a pet portrait artist with two fine art degrees. I’d like to think that what I do is not something that just “anyone” can do. Regardless of subject matter, the artwork here exists because of extraordinary talent and hard work.
As for what gets chosen for the Top Ten, it’s all about the popular vote. Last year I submitted a painting of a dog AND wine, and made the Top Ten. This year I did just a dog and didn’t make the Top Ten. Both years I used e-mail, word of mouth, Facebook, and Twitter to reach out to family and friends requesting votes. And, of course, I hoped that people I didn’t know liked my work enough to vote for it. Last year it was enough; this year it wasn’t. C’est la vie.
I congratulate all of my fellow artists/dog lovers who submitted work. I enjoyed looking at your submissions and felt honored to be amongst such wonderful pieces. Good luck to the Top Ten finalists! -
There was some fabulous art submitted this year and I second Christine’s comment above and congratulate all of my fellow artists/dog lovers who submitted art work. It’s so great to see everyone’s submissions and I feel honored to have my painting make the Top Ten!

Leeroy and I wish all of the artists MUCH luck! We did not enter this year but the one we voted for made it to top ten so we are excited to see what happens tomorrow 🙂
This is such an awesome competition and I am honored to have had my artwork on last year’s winning label – I still can’t believe it all happened and am savoring the “Leeroy Out Loud!” I have left here.
Sending lots of hugs and wags,
Kellie, Leeroy
and Rupert and Maybel too!

This is explicitly NOT a design contest. Please find out the facts before criticizing artists who put themselves out there to be judged. I was in awe of all the entries and honored that people took the time an effort to submit their work. Each piece brought a smile to my face and made it harder and harder to select a favorite. I still can’t decide.

Well said, Christine! I couldn’t have said it better myself. I also felt honored to be amongst so many amazing artists and their pieces. Each and every piece submitted this year was spectacular & unique. Congrats & Good luck to the Top Ten! 🙂

These are amazingly beautiful! Wow, I truly love every single one of them!

I felt that #60 was well done, creative and done in good taste (ha ha) and would like to congradulate Anne Mitchell on her work. The art work also connected dogs and wine.
You belong in first place! A fellow artist.

Just came upon your comment, Char. Thank you for the kind words. You made my day.
Your art “Barkus” would have made a fabulous label. Well, we always have next year!
Anne Mitchell
