Thank you for sharing Darby and reminding us that we are the sum of our relationships. I miss my Weimaraner, Bella (1994-2008), and celebrate her ever year. My life is fuller because she was such an important part of my life.

I never thought I would get past the pain of losing him. And there were some tears. But now I can look back with so much joy and see how he changed me as a person and then the entire trajectory of my life. A reminder that I don’t always know what’s best for me. Not a clue, since before him I never liked dogs.
I am so glad you can celebrate Bella and the beautiful relationship you had. Animals change us in profound ways and allow us to connect to humans on a different level. Thanks for sharing.

In Lord Dunsany’s novel Dean Spanley he describes the 7 great dogs. Looks like Darby may have been one of them. x
ps there is a much neglected movie of Dean Spanley too. -
I adored that movie. Not sure if you saw my blog post about it, telling everyone they must watch it.. Never read the novel, thinking I should. I feel so lucky that I had Darby for 17 years. Yes, he was one of the greats.
