  • Congratulations Daniel Giat!

    Congratsblog

Time to brag about Art from Ashes’s co-owner Jane Giat’s husband. Daniel Giat was nominated for an Emmy last week for Best Writer of a Movie or Miniseries for HB0’s Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee. It’s so fun to kind of, indirectly know someone who’s nominated. Congratulations and good luck! The Emmys air September 16 on Fox at 8pm.

  • Sniff: The Pet Design Studio

    Doggiesniff

Monica Cevallos is my first Web Design Artist on Dog Art Today. Her Sniff Design Studio is dedicated helping pet-centric businesses thrive through beautiful design and savvy web solutions. Or, as her motto reads — she “helps you put your love of animals to work.”

I think it’s a brilliant Net strategy and so do her many clients. Her less is more style is totally fresh and perfectly bridges the mass/niche gap that many small and large pet businesses face. Contact Sniff Design to move your business to the Internet (and design that logo, package, pamphlet or corporate ID you’ve been meaning to.) Go global today!

Also, check out Monica’s Etsy Store to pick up her lovely doggie postcards (above). Elephants and bears available too.

  • Surreal Thing: Wolfhound Paw Print Rug

    Wolfhoundrug

The coolest event I’ve heard about to kick off summer is this Friday’s Surrealist Ball at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Thrown in conjunction with their current Surreal Things exhibition, the evening promises a levitation, inverted psychoanalytical procedures, a macabre booth, an underwater-style shrimp dance and 20’s music played on a windup gramophone. And it’s free!

Put a little surreal in your life with this Wolfhound Paw Print Rug, a replica of the original commissioned by Edward James, a passionate supporter of the Surrealist movement, and featured in the exhibition. Available at the V&A Gift Shop.

  • Sloppy Kisses: Dog E-Cards for Mom

    Mothersday4

Oops! You just realized Mother’s Day is tomorrow! If she’s a dog lover, you’re in luck. Send her a whimsical animated e-card from Sloppy Kisses. Choose her dog’s name and breed and delight her with a heartfelt message. Oh, and some flowers would be nice too. Act now. It’s not too late!

  • Lenny of Paris: Haute Dog

Dog fashion usually connotes tiny 4-armed sweaters or rhinestone collars, but not Lenny of Paris. Hollywood stylist, Barbara Gordon, draws on her Dachshund Lenny’s bon vivant aura to create edgy original designs. Cozy arm warmers and leg warmers, darling capelets and jaunty peace sign berets round out the sexy and sophisticated line. Mandy Moore, Kate Hudson and Diane Keaton are just a few of Lenny’s (and Barbara’s) devotees. Become one too at Lenny’s online boutique. Coming soon; Lenny captivates the literary world with his new book.

  • Puppie & Babies: First Things First

In Los Angeles puppies come first at the beautifully designed Puppies & Babies, a darling boutique where every doggie leash, custom made ceramic bowl and baby onesie is hand-picked and displayed with exquisite style. It’s a gallery of cuteness. Owners Hannah Brand and her husband Robert Moritz call it an “oasis for equally unapologetic infantilizing dog lovers” (like Demi Moore, Ellen De Generes, Kirsten Dunst, and Christina Applegate.) If you don’t live in their neighborhood, order online.
