Just read a fascinating article at The Atlantic by Megan Garber about a new theory by anthropologist Pat Shipman that 35,000 years ago dogs helped humans flourish as Neanderthals died out.  Shipman argues that man and dog created a "virtuous circle of cooperation — one in which humans and their canine friends got stronger, together, over time."

Highly recommend full article.

thanks for that link! In some BBC documentary they showed this amazing ability of dogs reading human faces and hands. Pointing fingers, dogs do understand, apes have no clue. Its’ all about this fascinating bond!

I saw that documentary. Also about the dog who knew the names of everything. Like he could read. Brilliant : )

Fascinating. Steven Kotler covers similar theories in ‘A Small Furry Prayer’. There’s quite a lot of research that supports the theory of co-evolution. Of course, some of us already knew 🙂

Totally. I have a theory about how dogs made us artists, too. Just need to do some quantitative research to back it up. My anecdotal evidence is strong.
