Ronald Kurniawan: Awestruck

Awestruck

Ronald Kurniawan’s “Awestruck” was upsetting to me at first. The poor dog is impaled. But, then I remembered that primal, mama-bear feeling I had when I first saw my dog. It was violent, traumatic. I knew my life would change forever, but I didn’t know how truly AWE-some having a dog would be. Ronald clearly does. He lives and works in L.A. accompanied by his Pug, Ruffles. Wow, upsetting and disturbing DO describe his work. It’s really interesting, provocative and powerful though. He definitely has a unique voice…that’s for sure!

Pretty rad! The bottom one is the best. Instead of words like upsetting and disturbing-
I would use words like- very contemporary and pop-surrealish!
    This is an amazing artist!

Man, somebody told me about some sweet pooch art and they didn’t let me down! That’s grrrrrreat work that I have to throw a bone at!
    That Pug is awesome looking.
Contemporary/Pop-Surrealist work is what I have been quoted for saying will be highly collectible art in the near future.
This is truely turning into-“One Nation Under Dog!”
