Dogs’ Last Supper

Dog-last-supper

I probably should have saved this until Easter, but I couldn’t wait. It’s an Italian ad for OIPA, the Organizzazione Internazionale Protezione Animali (the International Organization for the Protection of Animals). Notice that there is only human, Judas. The copy reads: “One of you betrays us 150,000 times every year.”
I am assuming that is the number of dogs put down in Italy every year.

Via the fabulous Nag on the Lake who discovered it on eternallycool.net.

Shucks, Moira, I’m really not that fabulous (glances down, shuffles feet).

This is a powerful ad, but aside from the message, it is a clever piece of art. I love photographing dogs. I photograph friends’ dogs and dogs that I meet at anti-puppy mill rallies.

Where oh where do you find this astounding stuff?

This is amazing! I want it for my house. Do you know if prints are available?

Dogs are not euthanized in Italy at all!!! In Italy stray dogs may only be euthanized when they are “seriously or incurably ill or proven to be dangerous”. (Law no. 281/91) Only an owner can have their own dog put to sleep–never the government.
Can you imagine that? How un-American.
