I don't know how to shut down Dog Art Today for 24 hours, so I just grabbed this image (created by April Winchell of Regretsy) off Talk Radio One. If SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act, passes I probably wouldn't be able to do that and neither would you. Artists' rights are important, but I don't think that the lobbyists from United States Chamber of Commerce and the Motion Picture Association of America are pushing SOPA because they are worried about artists. Seriously.

Read a cautionary tale about Francis Barrud, the original painter of His Master's Voice which went on to become the RCA logo. Barrud, was turned down for a copyright for the image, but when the Victor Talking Machine Co. bought the painting and the rights, it was allowed to patent the image. Baurrd only received two payments of £50 each.
