  • Candy Adams + Zoe Win Photo Album Contest!

    Zoe

Congratulations to Dog Art Today reader, Candy Adams, who won my Angels With Fur Photo Album Contest.  Candy’s name was selected at random from everyone who submitted photos to my new online album.   To be honest Candy might have won if it were an actual photography contest.   I simply love this sweet close up of her pup, Zoe, whom she described as:

“Feisty, Fearless, believes her 12 pound body is as big as an 80 pound Lab! My little rescue learns so quickly, is my loyal companion and I’m honoured to have her love…AND all of this is wrapped up in FUNNY! She starts my day with a laugh and ends my day with a smile; it doesn’t get any better!”

Candy told me she has an interest in learning more about photography, but claimed she just “got lucky” with this terrific Zoe photo.  I told her that I don’t believe in luck when it comes to composition and having a good eye.  I definitely think she should pursue her interest and I think winning this contest is a sign that she is headed in the right direction.

For her prize, Candy chose one of my all time most popular designs, The Striped Dachshund Puppy.  It’s kind of hard to see on the mug

It is also available on t-shirts, baby clothes, pillows, greeting cards, tote bags and ornaments at my CafePress store.

Thank you, everyone who entered.  I can’t tell you how fun it was to open my email and meet all these fabulous dogs, each one so precious and individual.  I also enjoyed getting to know many of you who regularly read my blog who I didn’t know by name.  Please feel free to share any comments and suggestions with me.  I love hearing from you.

P.S.  The contest is over, but you can always submit your dog to my Angels With Fur Album.  All dogs are welcome.

  • Dog Art Today’s New Photo Album: Enter Your Dog + Win a Mug!

    Photo_album copy

    In September 2008, I ran a contest
asking readers to finish this sentence: "My dog is chicken soup for the
soul because…" The winner was Linda Belthius whose response included,
"Because I have been blessed beyond my understanding with having
[Winnie] to help me through a loss of my dear sister-in-law….She is
    an angel with fur!"

This made me think of all the Angels with Fur who inspire my
readers, and how I'd like to meet them.  So, I set up this photo album.  If you
would like to be included, email me
a photo of your pet (72 dpi) and a few sentences describing him or her.
Also let me know if you would like me to link to your website.

I will have a random drawing of all the dogs and the winner will recieve a large mug from my CafePress store.  Contest ends next Tuesdeay, November 18th at noon.  Good luck!

  • Chicken Soup for the Soul: Contest Winners!

    Angel Dane by Rachel Tyler

I am pleased to announce the winners of of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Dogs We Love are:

    Linda Belthius for this response…

"My dog is Chicken Soup for the Soul because I have been blessed beyond my understanding with having her to help me through a loss of my dear sister-in-law. I was under so much stress I literally lost my hair, and without my Winnie to be there when I came home I think I would have sunk into a depression so deep it would have affected my whole life. Having to care for her and having her undivided love helped me to stay strong for myself and my family! She is an angel with fur!"

…and artist Rachel Tyler chosen at random.

I was so moved by everyone's responses.  It was almost impossible to decide.  But Linda's last line "She is an angel with fur!" really got to me.  Inspired by her quote, I set up a new Dog Art Today photo album.  I would love for you all to submit photos of your dogs so I can meet all your angels with fur.

Click here to submit your photo.  Everyone's dogs are welcome.   You don't have to have participated in the contest.

P.S. see more of Rachel Tyler's whimsical dog art at her website Pawsitive Art.
