When I’m not blogging or making collages, I’m a screenwriter. This month I begin writing a new project for my friend, photographer Ben Glass. (The script is based on the novel The Pearls of the Stone Man by Edward Mooney Jr.) I have known Ben for years and really enjoy working with him. Besides being a brilliant photographer, Ben is an avid dog lover. His company Sage Heart Productions is named for his beautiful dog, Sage, a majestic half-wolf who adopted him on “Dances with Wolves.”
I fell in love with Sage, before I was ever a dog person (before Darby). Sadly, she passed away several years ago after a long life of living on movie sets and awing people with her gentle, almost mystical nature. I’m thrilled to be working with Ben under Sage’s guiding spirit. Also, on board is producer Steve Rubin of Fast Carrier Pictures. We hope to shoot next year.
This is a favorite photo Ben took of me and Kevin Costner, my former boss, on the set of “Wyatt Earp.” I played Tombstone Whore No.1 that day, and it was my first and last day as an actress. I hated it!
Kevin gave me Darby a few months before I left his production company to become a screenwriter. And to quote Robert Frost, “that has made all the difference.”
Speaking of Keving Costner, check out If I Blog It They Will Come, a blog devoted to getting Kevin to look at the blog. I just discovered it on Wendy Brandes’s fabulous blog.
