Art Dork Dogs

Rex

The Art Dorks started as a web community of artists founded by Brendan Danielsson. Now, it’s a full-fledged collective with wildly popular art shows around the world. Influenced by pop-culture, kung-fu, sci-fi and a love for drawing, their work is hard to define, but somehow easy to recognize. The Art Dorks appear to like birds, teeth, insects and skulls, but I spotted a few dogs (or dog-like beings) to represent the movement: Kristian Olson’s Rex and the Aliens (above) and Chris Mostyn’s Ain’t Like It Used To Be (below). Very cool.

See the show in person or online (to really get the whole essence of the Art Dorks) at L.A.’s Thinkspace Gallery. Next show is at Brooklyn’s McCaig-Welles Gallery, opening this Friday, June 15, 2007.

6.14.07 Update: Kristian Olson reports Rex is definitely a dog. Excellent news!
